Founder and CEO
In October 2001, Michael Herman founded Parallelspace Corporation with a
vision for a family of Truly Collaborative™ business solutions built on
the Groove Networks distributed business collaboration platform. An
important milestone was reached in April 2002, when Groove Networks
singled out Parallelspace as "one of the most innovative developers of
collaborative business solutions" for Groove Workspace.
Subsequently, Parallelspace has focused on creating active collaboration
solutions based on the Microsoft SharePoint products and technology
platform.
Michael has more than 20 years of professional experience in managing
the development and launch of innovative software products at
Alias/Wavefront, IBM, Star Data Systems and most recently, more than 5
years with the Microsoft Corporation. Michael’s responsibilities at
Microsoft included world-wide partner readiness for the launch of
Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.
In his 1991 Windows World keynote speech, Bill Gates, Chairman and CEO
of Microsoft Corporation, singled out Alias Upfront for Windows as the
most innovative new graphics product for Microsoft Windows. As the
Upfront software architect and development manager, Michael was
responsible for leading the team that created the first commercial 3-D
computer graphics product for Windows. Michael has more than 19
years of experience developing solutions on the Microsoft Windows
platform.
Michael graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of
Mathematics degree in Computer Science and subsequently returned to
complete his Masters of Mathematics degree in Computer Graphics, also
from the University of Waterloo.
